We’ve all crossed many rivers – physical and metaphorical to get to the here and now. Here to There to Here was made from a selection of over 200 anonymous responses by students at CityLit College, London, to whom we asked four deceptively simple questions: where do you live, where were you born, where are your ancestors from, and where would you like to be?

We took their answers written on A5 sheets of paper and made monoprints curated around three pairs of emergent theme: Water vs Air; Nomad vs Native; Not There vs Not Here.

At the macro level the piece represents a story of migration, diversity and aspiration. At the micro level it encourages a sense of connection, introspection and empathy… “I too have a story”.

Mike Abrahams and Francesca Giuliano are members of Riverside Artists Group which was established in 1986. It is a diverse group of 40 practising artists who exhibit nationally and internationally.

Riverside Studios was converted into a film studio in 1933, home to BBC TV in 1954 and in 1976 became an arts centre. Redeveloped in 2019, it is now home to an extraordinary mix of new and innovative theatre, film, comedy, art, dance, music and television.
